Question: What does running the Shelter Island 10k race have in common with networking? Answer: Both require vision to be run right.
On the wall next to my desk is a picture of me crossing the finish line of the Shelter Island race in 1987 in less than 42 minutes. I look lean and fleet of foot.
Now, at the ripe age of 45, I’m working hard at my goal to be as fit as I was then. The vision is so clear that I’m sure I’ll break the 40-minute barrier sooner or later.
Realizing how powerful it is to have a clear vision, I’ve started to apply the same principle to my business life.
Remember that great businesses are built with great visions, not with hard work, long hours, good intentions or a strong desire to be your own boss. Those things do help, of course, but they won’t overcome an inadequate business vision or trying to operate a business with no vision at all. ~Ronen Yaari
